Tips for Consignors

Tips and guidelines for consigning with CCE+

  • When deciding what to bring to the sale, always keep in mind the question, “If I saw this at the sale, would I buy it?” If the answer is no, then don’t bring it. We want to sell quality used items, not yard sale things.

  • Remember there is a limit of 125 hanging items. That means you can bring 125 women's clothing items and 125 children's clothing items, if you are participating in both sales. There is no limit to non-hanging items. If you have more than 125 hanging items that are very nice and will sell for $10 or more, you may bring those additional items.

  • We receive a lot of 0-24 month baby items. Shoppers have a lot to choose from and can be very selective, so only bring your best items. We do not accept basic terrycloth “Carters” type sleepers. Only sleepers of better material or with a cute design on them.

  • We do accept juniors items, but they are not our top sellers, so only bring 15 juniors items. (if you have more than 15 items that will sell for $10 or more, you may bring them)

  • We do not accept maternity or school uniforms

  • We do offer drop & dash service for children’s items and housewares. We don’t offer it for women's things just because we don’t have the time to process that many items. You must bring your clean pressed items to one of the two D & D receiving days. Dates and details about Drop & Dash can be seen here,

  • When hanging things, remember the following: The hanger always faces left, like a question mark. Use the right sized hanger for each item. It doesn’t matter so much whether the hanger is plastic or wire, but it has to fit the garment. Typically, wire hangers are not made for smaller sizes, so sizes under 10 usually will be on plastic hangers. Items stretched over a hanger that’s too big don’t look good and items hung on a hanger too small will tend to fall off. Neither of these items will catch a shopper’s eye. Pants cannot be folded over a hanger but must be hung with the zipper facing the front so shoppers can see the pants. Remember, you want your items to get noticed. We all want our things to sell!!!

  • When bringing toys with pieces or parts, secure them extremely well. It’s amazing how children’s little fingers can open up zippered bags full of game accessories. Every sale we find pieces all over the store. Use duct tape to close bags and zip ties to attach bigger pieces together. For example, got a little golf set? If you want all the pieces to stay together, zip tie the golf clubs to the golf bag & put golf balls in a zip lock bag. Tape up the bag with duct tape and attach it to the golf bag. Scotch tape or masking tape will NOT do the trick.

  • For shoes, punch a hole in the tag & use ribbon, string or a zip tie to attach the shoes & the tag together. If there is no way to tie the shoes together, then use a rubber band.

  • Clothes sell soooo much better if they are ironed. Obviously everything needs to be clean, but items that are ironed look and sell much better.

  • We will not accept cribs that have a drop down side, they have been declared illegal by the US government

  • If you don’t have pants hangers, try pinning the garment to a regular hanger. If you do this, don’t pin to the bottom of the hanger, this will cause the garment to slide on the hanger. Pin items to the top part of the hanger & that will keep them secure.

  • If bring linens its best to either put them in a big plastic bag or tie them together with ribbon.

  • When pricing your items, think about what you paid for it, how good of shape it is in and what you would pay for it now. Do not over or under price your items.
